Cotellese and Spisak Named All-ECAC
CAPE COD, Mass. – West Chester University senior outfielder Matt Cotellese and junior shortstop Nick Spisak were each named All-ECAC in a vote of the conference’s head coaches last week. It marks the second All-ECAC nod for Cotellese while Spisak is making his first appearance on the squad.
Cotellese, the PSAC Tournament MVP who was also named to the NCAA Atlantic Regional all-tournament team while being named ABCA, NCBWA and Daktronics, Inc., all-region along with ABCA first team All-America, earned his sixth postseason plaudit. He led the team in hitting with a .427 batting average and set a single-season school record with 97 hits. He also belted 13 home runs, 25 doubles and knocked in 71 runs on the year.
Cotellese, a three-time All-East performer, was the PSAC East player of the year each of the past two seasons. He owns six career school records and three other single-season marks. This spring, Cotellese finished fourth in the conference in hitting, led the loop in hits, doubles, total bases and RBI. He has scored 65 runs.
Spisak, another three-time All-PSAC East honoree, was an ABCA/Rawlings gold glove award winner at shortstop in 2007. Spisak hit .389 this year with a conference single-season record 71 runs scored. He rapped out 79 hits and slammed 18 doubles and six home runs from his second spot in the batting order. He also stole 18 bases in 19 attempts and authored a .915 fielding percentage.
