WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University women’s tennis senior, Alex Santoro, was named PSAC Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row it was announced by that organization Monday.
Santoro was a perfect 6-0 on the week, helping West Chester to three wins, including a pair of PSAC victories. She went 3-0 in singles play and teamed with Nicole Nardi to go 3-0 at second doubles.
Santoro topped Elizabeth Wagner of Millersville, 6-3, 6-0 and then her and Nardi topped Wagner and Tori Davis, 8-6, in doubles for two of WCU's five wins in the 5-4 victory over the Marauders on the road.
The win over Millersville clinched a postseason berth for the Golden Rams. Santoro also topped PhilaU's Olivia Amato, 6-2, 6-1 in singles. Finally, Santoro swept Shippensburg's Katie Shearer, 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and then was an 8-0 winner at second doubles.
Santoro is 10-6 overall, currently on a six-match winning streak, and 3-0 in PSAC contests.
