An All-American on the balance beam in 1982, Barb Reilly was a four-year all-around performer for West Chester University's women's gymnastics team during her college career. She qualified for the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national championships in both 1981 and 1982. Reilly finished runner-up on the balance beam at the AIAW regional championships in 1982. She was also a key component of the 1983 West Chester squad that won the regional championship and finished fourth at nationals.
 
Upon graduation, she became an elementary school teacher while developing and managing ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center. She also owned and operated McDermott Athletic Club from 1984 to 2005. Additionally, Reilly was a performance coach for StandOUT Video and Marketing from 2006 to 2011. She has also been active in fundraising efforts for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
