Barbara was another member of the powerhouse swimming teams that gained national recognition in the late 60's and early 70's. As a captain her junior and senior year, she helped lead the team to two second place finishes in the national championships. Barbara also set a New Eastern Regional swimming record in the fifty yard butterfly. Her skill and leadership helped establish West Chester swimming as a prominent contender on the national scene. As a national contender in AAU swimming, she was a ten time finalist. Three times she was invited to participate in the Olympic Trails, and in 1968 was a finalist in the butterfly.
Barbara continued her involvement in swimming as a coach at Drexel University. During her eight years of coaching, Barbara led her teams to East Coast Conference Championship six times. Barbara also earned the distinction of being named "Coach of the Year" twice.
In 1987, she earned her Master's of Science degree in Human Resource Managment from Drexel Univeristy. While serving at Drexel, Barbara made a mark in the advancement of women's athletics. Her contributions include, establishing two new varsity sports for women, the student athletic advisory board and the development of an athletic department policy manual. In December, Barbara was named Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator at Temple University, where she will continue to promote and advance opportunities for men and athletes.
