Julie Bowers competed for the West Chester University cross country and track & field teams from 1981-85. During her career, Bowers achieved nine All-America honors - two in cross country and seven in track. She set six WCU indoor and outdoor records in distance events ranging from the 1500 meters to the 10,000-meter run.
A three-time NCAA Division II track champion, Bowers twice won the 5000 meters (1984 & 1985) and also captured the 1500-meter indoor race (1985). She set Division II National Meet records in both events. In 1985, Bowers was named the MVP of the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Her career in the PSAC was stellar as well. She became the first female runner to win PSAC titles in four different distance events, claiming six crowns over two years in the 1500m, 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m events. Bowers won the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Championship in 1984.
