A two-sport standout during her four years at West Chester University, Kristen Smereczynski is widely considered to be the best softball player to come out of the Golden Rams’ program in its 50-year history. Smereczynski still ranks among the top five players in 11 offensive categories more than a decade after graduation. She holds the school record for career home runs (29), RBI (144) and total bases (368). Her career .348 batting average is sixth all-time at WCU, and her career slugging percentage of .613 is second. Her .420 on-base percentage is fourth all-time at WCU as well.

Not to be outdone on the field hockey pitch, Smereczynski ranks fifth all-time at WCU in scoring with 74 career points, seventh in goals scored (27) and fourth in assists (20) while earning a pair of all-region honors for the Golden Rams’ Division I field hockey squad. In 1998, Smereczynski led West Chester to the first of two straight Atlantic 10 regular season championships with a 15-4 overall mark and a perfect 5-0 record in conference play.
