Considered by many to be one of the finest male swimmers to come out of West Chester University, Matt Matys earned 11 All-America certificates and six more honorable mention plaudits during his four-year collegiate career. West Chester University captured the PSAC Championship all four years he competed for the Golden Rams, winning 10 individual events at the conference championships. During his illustrious swimming career, he displayed his versatility by winning 23 of 24 possible events. Matys owned a 34-5 individual meet record, which included a 29-meet winning streak. He won a PSAC title in six different events, including relays, during his college career as well. Matys was twiced named the PSAC Male Swimmer of the Year (2000, 2002) as well as the PSAC Rookie of the Year in 1999. He broke eight school records and three conference marks and held five WCU records upon his graduation in 2002. Matys was twice named the WCU Male Athlete of the Year (2000, 2002).
