The first All-American in West Chester University women's gymnastics, Tammie Hack earned that distinction on the balance beam at the 1980 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national championships, helping the Golden Rams to a third-place finish. West Chester finished 12-1 that season and won the Philadelphia AIAW title and was runner up at the Eastern Regionals. Hack placed fifth in the all-around at the Eastern Regionals that spring while placing third in both the all-around and the floor exercise at the PAIAW championships. As a result, Hack was named to the EAIAW All-East squad in 1980. She was awarded the Wheelan & Wheelan Award for outstanding athlete at the PAIAW championships. In 1981, Hack helped West Chester finish runner-up at the regional championships and place eighth at AIAW national championships.
