West Chester University’s national championship team finished the season a perfect 9-0, including a convincing 5-0 shutout over defending national champ Penn State, halting the Nittany Lions’ 21-match winning streak in the process. The Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association of America (ISFAA) declared West Chester the national champion for 1950 following the squad’s stellar campaign. Under the direction of legendary head coach Earle “Muddy” Waters, West Chester also put an end to the University of Baltimore’s 19-match winning streak with a 1-0 verdict. The Golden Rams’ booters only allowed five goals in their nine games that fall, taking on the likes of Penn State, Maryland, LaSalle, University of Baltimore, Delaware, Penn and East Stroudsburg to name a few.
