A two-time All-American and four-year letterwinner for West Chester University’s storied field hockey program, Griesbaum represents the next generation of hockey all-stars to have graced West Chester University’s south campus. Griesbaum graduated in 1989 from WCU tied atop the charts as the school’s all-time scoring leader with 107 career points. She still holds that distinction, along with Gail Smith, 20 years after she left the school. Her 46 career goals are second all-time at the university.
Griesbaum was named the PAIAW female athlete of the year as well as its field hockey athlete of the year in 1987 and went on to spend four years as a member of Team USA after graduating from West Chester University. On the softball diamond, Griesbaum’s career .433 on-base percentage still ranks in the top ten in school history. Today, Griesbaum is the field hockey head coach at Iowa University where she most recently led the Hawkeyes to the national semifinals in the fall of 2008. In nine seasons at Iowa, Griesbaum has authored a 115-63 record, taken the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Tournament four times and won three straight Big Ten Tournament titles. Her overall career coaching record stands at 128-84.
