Day Two Results
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. –PSAC powerhouse West Chester University flexed its muscle some more Friday night to extend its lead over the pack at the 2010 PSAC Men’s Swimming Championships at Cumberland Valley High School. Junior Kenny McCormick set a new meet record with a win in the 200 individual medley.
West Chester has compiled 259 points through six events and leads second-place Clarion, who has amassed 223.5 points. Shippensburg is in third with 161.5 and Edinboro is fourth with 125.
McCormick touched out in 1 minute, 49.26 seconds in the 200-yard IM to successfully defend his conference title. He also swam a leg of both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay squads as West Chester captured three PSAC crowns Friday. The 200 free relay finished second while the 400 relay placed first.
Tommy Rhoads picked up his second individual crown with a first-place effort in the 500 free. He timed out in 4:33.06. Max Bernardes was second in 4:36.55, and David Smoker was fifth in 4:41.56.
West Chester heads into Day Three of the conference championships with a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack as the Golden Rams go for their 12th straight conference crown.
