Day Two Results
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Three-time defending PSAC champion West Chester University brought home four more first-place finishes Friday to lengthen its lead on the rest of the field at the 2010 PSAC Women’s Swimming Championships at Cumberland Valley High School.
West Chester has compiled 272 points through 6 events and leads second-place Kutztown, who has amassed 139 points. Shippensburg is in third with 136 and Clarion fourth with 112.
Senior Jackie Borkowski won the 50-yard freestyle and led off two relay teams that each won a conference crown to highlight West Chester’s Friday evening in the pool. Borkowski touched the wall in 23.21 seconds in the 50 free. She also led off the 200 free relay that posted a winning time of 1 minute, 35.14 seconds. Erin Fischer, Christie Stern and Megan Bauer rounded out that foursome. The 400 medley relay timed out in 3:49.87 to take first place. Rachael Gale, Fischer and Kristen Montello made up the rest of that relay team.
Montello won her second individual conference crown in the 500 free. She touched the wall in 4:58.81, barely edging teammate Danielle Ierley, who touched in 4:58.84. Nicole DiBonaventura finished sixth in that race as well.
West Chester heads into Day Three of the conference championships with a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack as the Golden Rams go for four in a row.
