Wentz Highlights Women’s Track Showing At PSACs

2010 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships - Day One Results

EDINBORO, Pa.
- Melinda Wentz finished fourth in the pentathlon and qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles to lead West Chester's women's track efforts at the 2010 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships held inside Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome at Edinboro University Saturday afternoon. Wentz's 3,328 points in the pentathlon was an NCAA provisional qualifying score.
 
West Chester sits ninth overall with 11 points. Slippery Rock is in first place with 67.5 points. Shippensburg is second with 48.5 and Indiana (Pa.) is third with 31 points.

Wentz has 3328 points – 18 out of third, and 43 out of second. Wentz ran the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.31 seconds, placing her eighth in the finals while posting the fourth-best all-time mark in West Chester University history. Senior Jess Joseph ran the 5000m, finishing 19th with a time of 18 minutes, 52.46 seconds, which places her seventh on the all-time list for West Chester University.

The Golden Rams’ 4x800m relay team placed seventh at the championships to earn some points. The foursome of Mary Gawbill, Lyndsey Ratasiewicz, Leigh Gumlock-Sifles and Lyndsey Nygren clocked a time of 9:53.14.

Nicole Reaves was seventh in the long jump for the women. She lept a distance of 17 feet, 6 inches. West Chester’s distance medley relay team also placed seventh with a time of 12:51.45.

The PSAC Indoor Track & Field championships conclude Sunday afternoon.
