CANTON, Ohio - West Chester's men's swimming & diving squad opens competition at C.T. Branin Natatorium Wednesday at the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.
Drury has won the past five men’s meets and seven of the last 11 with Cal State Bakersfield snagging the other four.
West Chester is led by Brendan Fanslau, Max Bernardes, Kenny McCormick and divers Adam Vance and Jon Brittain. Golden Rams head coach Jamie Rudisill is hoping his men can hold on to a top 10 spot, which it has maintained over the past few years.
Bernardes and McCormick should give West Chester two All-Americans in the 400-yard individual medley as well as Bernardes helping out the 800 freestyle relay. Bernardes could be a top eight finisher in three individual events and one relay, if he turns out to have a strong meet.
Mid-season transfer Brendan Magarity is also a contender in the 200 backstroke for an All-America certificate while Fanslau contributes to all five relays. McCormick will swim the 200 and 400 IM with a shot at All-America status in both.
On the boards, Vance and Brittain should score some points for West Chester. Both are strong divers, who are finishing up stellar seasons off the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
