Jackie Borkowski Claims Another Swimming Award

Annapolis, MD.  – Senior swimmer Jackie Borkowski won the career improvement award in the inaugural 2009-10 College Swimming Honors as voted on by CollegeSwimming.com. 

In all, 13 swimmers, divers or teams were recognized for their outstanding performances through the 2009-10 collegiate swimming and diving season. Arizona, Florida and George Mason led the way with two honors each.  

Borkowski concluded her illustrious college career with three individual championships at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships in March. She helped West Chester to a fourth-place finish at nationals and picked up seven All-America certificates. Borkowski was a 22-time All-American, including 11 individual honors, during her four-year career at West Chester University. She was also a two-time recipient of the WCU Female Athlete of the Year award and the NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year this past winter.

Coaches, athletes and sport administrators submitted nominees for a sample of categories, including career improvement, breakout swimmer, breakout diver, breakout team and most exciting dual meet. 

In all, nearly 100 athletes and/or teams from over 60 institutions were nominated for their achievements.
