Directions to West Chester
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Second-ranked West Chester University learned that it will be the second seed in the South Region and host third-seeded Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (17-2) defeated IUP (14-4), 2-1, in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament Friday evening and also downed the Crimson Hawks, 3-2, during the regular season. Both of those contests took place at Vonnie Gros Field.
Shippensburg (17-2) received the No. 1 seed in the South Region and the automatic bye into the national semifinals. UMass-Lowell (18-3) received the No. 1 seed in the North Region and will host the national championships Nov. 9-11 in Lowell, Mass. Merrimack (16-3) and Bentley (14-7) will play in the other quarterfinal on Saturday.
West Chester, the defending national champion, is coming off its first PSAC championship and is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Golden Rams won four AIAW field hockey national titles in the mid 1970s and picked up the school’s first NCAA crown last November in Bloomsburg, Pa.
