Box Score QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - Laura Altenburger's two-run double with one out in the bottom of the sixth lifted No. 25 West Chester to a 9-1 victory over Seton Hill in a PSAC Tournament game shortened by the eight-run rule Thursday afternoon at Veterans Park.
West Chester (40-12) scored three runs in the third and fourth, and then added one more in the fifth, before Altenburger's two-run double ended the game early.
Erin Whitman smashed her team-leading eighth home run in the third inning, a three-run shot the opposite way, to erase a 1-0 lead by the Griffins. Erin Quense added her sixth home run of the season in the fourth that sparked a three-run rally.
Sarah Walasavage went 2-for-4 for the Golden Rams.
Houck (19-4) picked up the win inside the circle. She went 4.1 innings, allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out two. Brooke Harner came on and pitched the last 1.2 scoreless innings, yielding just one hit and striking out three.
West Chester advances in the winner's bracket and will continue play on Friday, after winning both of its games Thursday afternoon.
