This is the second time in the past three seasons that the Golden Rams have been ranked in the Top 25 in the D2 Football Media Poll.

The Golden Rams enter 2017 after coming off a strong 2016 campaign, which saw them finish the year on a four-game winning streak to push their record to 8-3 on the season.

Defending DII National Champion Northwest Missouri State was selected as the Preseason No. 1, followed by Ferris State at No. 2, with Grand Valley State, Emporia State, and North Alabama rounding out the top five.
