SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – After falling behind at halftime, West Chester came back with force and defeated PSAC rival Slippery Rock, 3-2, Saturday afternoon.
Frank DeMas finally put the Golden Rams (9-8, 8-6 PSAC) on the scoreboard in the second half, recording a goal in the 58th minute to begin the comeback and cut the hosts’ lead in half. A goal by Zac Tassone off a DeMas assist knotted the score at two shortly thereafter.
Slippery Rock (9-6-2, 8-4-2 PSAC) then committed an own-goal off a corner kick in the 85th minute, which sealed the game for West Chester.
A goal by Jeremy Deighton with the assist by Mitchell Walters staked The Rock to a 1-0 halftime lead.
DeMas finished the afternoon with a goal and an assist. Tassone recorded a goal as well. Goaltender Garrett Santora went the distance, and recorded four saves. Santora also gave up two goals.
Langstone recorded a goal for The Rock. Deighton finished the day with a goal and an assist. Walters recorded an assist. Goalkeeper Chris Cook was not called upon for much in his 46:26 of service. Greg Blum played the remainder of the game and recorded three saves.
The men will continue their efforts to compete in the postseason when they head out to face first-place East Stroudsburg Wednesday at 7 p.m.
