Student-Athlete Success

"Engaging Athletes, Inspiring Leaders"
@WCU_SAS

Student Athlete Success (SAS) engages, prepares and inspires student-athletes to become leaders through opportunities for personal and professional growth.

What is SAS?

The Student Athlete Success Program (SAS) emphasizes six core focus areas through various programming to expose and educate student-athletes in ways that differ from what is learned on the field and in the classroom.

Partnerships with professionals in areas outside of athletics allow us to offer programming that may not otherwise be accessible to student-athletes and it is introduced in a way that meshes their being an athlete with the core elements of the area being presented.   With 15-20 programs offered throughout the academic year, student-athletes will be exposed to various workshops related to academics, career development, civic and community engagement, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and wellness.

The programs include opportunities that student-athletes can attend simply by signing up through RamConnect.

The following WCU partners have been integral to the execution of the SAS program:
  • The Learning Assistance and Resource Center
  • The Career Development Center
  • The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • The Center for Civic Engagement and Social Impact
  • The Office of Student Leadership and Involvement
  • Wellness Promotion
  • The Department of Nutrition
  • The WCU Counseling Center

SAS supports the mission of West Chester University.  West Chester Universitiy is a community of educators that develops graduates to succeed personally and professionally and contribute to the common good. Our community of educators includes our facilitators and partners who assist in the building and execution of our programs.  These are partners within and outside of Athletics. We continue to foster relationships with those outside of Athletics in order to expose our student-athletes to situations and ideas that they may not otherwise be aware of or have access to.
