West Chester Hires E.J. Sandusky To Football Coaching Staff

E.J. Sandusky
WEST CHESTER, Pa. West Chester football head coach Bill Zwaan announced the hiring of E.J. Sandusky to his coaching staff this week. Sandusky will be in charge of the running game for the Golden Rams.

E.J. has a tremendous amount of experience and an obvious knowledge of the game, Zwaan said. But what we really liked about him was his head coaching experience. That was important to us as we conducted our search.

Im excited to begin working with Coach Zwaan and his coaching staff, Sandusky said. We look forward to continuing with the teams recent success and moving the program forward. The competition in the PSAC is always a great challenge.

Sandusky comes to West Chester after 11 years at Albright College in Reading, Pa., including the last 10 as head coach. Sandusky guided the Lions to a co-conference championship in 1997 and racked up 50 wins on their sideline second-most victories in school history. Albright also won three ECAC championship games during Sanduskys tenure.

Last fall, Albright ranked first in the Middle Atlantic States Conference in total offense, passing offense and second in scoring and red zone scoring percentage.

Sandusky is a 14-year veteran of the coaching profession and a member of the American Football Coaches Association since 1993. He also spent tours of duty as a graduate assistant on Mack Browns North Carolina staff from 1993-95 and Western Carolina from 1995-96. While at UNC, the Tar Heels reached the Gator Bowl in 1993 and the Sun Bowl in 1994.

Sandusky was chairman of the meeting room committee in 2006 and a voting member of both the AFCA Division III Top 25 and the District 2 All-America selection committee while at Albright.

During his 14 years of coaching college football, Sandusky has coordinated recruiting efforts all along the East Coast, stretching from Pennsylvania down to Georgia.

A 1992 graduate of Penn State University, Sandusky was the starting center on the Nittany Lions team that participated in the 1993 Blockbuster Bowl and a letterwinner for the 1992 Fiesta Bowl Champions who defeated Tennessee, 42-17. Sandusky was also a member of 1989 Holiday Bowl Champions that topped BYU, 50-39, and the 1990 Blockbuster Bowl participants.
