WILMINGTON, Del. – West Chester ran its season-opening winning streak to eight games with a sweep over national power Dowling, 3-0, and an equally impressive 3-1 decision over Edinboro to take the Wilmington Tournament title Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (8-0) won its second tournament crown in as many weekends while Kristen Decker was named to the all-tournament team and accorded MVP honors for the two games.
Dowling, who was among others receiving votes in the preseason AVCA Division II national coaches’ poll, suffered its first defeat of the season.
Lisa Yeasted recorded 32 assists versus Edinboro, and Laci Becher registered three solo blocks.
