WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Kristen Decker posted a season-high 27 kills, but Lock Haven proved to be too strong down the stretch, taking a 3-1 decision from the host Golden Rams in a PSAC crossover match held at Hollinger Field House Friday night.
It marked the second time this year that Decker recorded better than 20 kills in a match. However, Lock Haven (3-13) pulled away from the pesky Rams in games three and four to take the match. West Chester (17-3) had tied the Bald Eagles at 21-21 in game four before the visitors ran off five straight points to take control of the decisive game.
Decker also posted 14 digs, to go over 300 for the season, and now sits just four away from the school's all-time mark. She hit .434 for the match as well. Decker's 14 digs were a team high. Though, Lisa Yeasted chipped in 13 and Nora Jingeleski 10.
Michelle Powers blasted down 11 kills in support of Decker while Jenna Burd notched seven.
The Eagles put four players in double figures in kills with Inga Kurgonaite leading the way with 21. Elizabeth Metzmaier posted 14. Julie Stocklos led the visitors with 12 digs, and Fabiana Gomez posted 40 assists.
West Chester returns to Hollinger Field House on Saturday for two more matches during the two-day weekend crossover tournament. The Golden Rams will face Edinboro and Clarion in those matches.
In other volleyball action at Hollinger on Saturday, Shippensburg upended Clarion, 3-2, while Edinboro defeated East Stroudsburg, 3-0.
