WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Matt Cotellese homered for the third consecutive day and knocked in a total of four runs leading No. 9 West Chester to a 10-3 victory over visiting University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) in a non-league baseball game on Thursday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.
The win runs West Chester’s season-opening winning streak to 13 straight games. USP falls to 4-7 overall.
Nick Spisak extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 3-for-5. Frank Nunan went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Mike Cope (1-0) started and pitched six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while walking five and striking out nine. Chris Caldwell came on and finished up the final three innings for his first college save. He allowed three hits and two unearned runs while walking two and striking four.
West Chester will be back in action on Saturday when they host Bryant in a doubleheader at Serpico Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
