WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Colleen Sheehan scored a 34.5 in the all-around, and West Chester scored a 45.275 in the floor exercise, but it was not enough to overcome the more experienced Temple Owls in a 188.350-171.525 defeat in women’s gymnastics Thursday evening at Sturzebecker Health Science Center.
On Senior Night, Sheehan put forth one of her token performances in her final regular-season gymnastics meet at Sturzebecker. She scored a 9.15 in the floor exercise. Alyssa Driscoll scored the highest in that event with a 9.25 to finish fifth.
Melissa Filer placed fifth on the balance beam with an 8.8 score.
West Chester (0-4) saw three competitors on the vault score better than 9.0. Filer scored a 9.125, Stephanie Clark a 9.25 and Rachel Chilla a 9.15. The Golden Rams scored a 44.9 in that event.
Temple won all four events and had the top four finishers in each category as well.
West Chester is off until March 22 when the Golden Rams host the 2008 ECAC Division II Women’s Gymnastics Championships at Sturzebecker HSC.
