WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Ashley Kershaw and Sarah Oswald each scored in the second half to lift host West Chester to a 2-1 win over visiting Bloomsburg in a PSAC East women’s soccer clash at the soccer fields at West Chester University.

West Chester (7-0, 5-0 PSAC East) saw its consecutive scoreless streak come to an end late in the second half, but the Rams moved two games ahead of Bloomsburg (6-2, 4-2) in the league standings.

The Golden Rams’ scoreless streak ended at 618 minutes, 32 seconds on an own goal when a cross by a Bloomsburg forward was re-directed into the back of West Chester’s net by a defender trying to intercept the cross.

The tally pulled the Huskies within one, but West Chester’s defense held strong and goalkeeper Hilary Smart earned her 49th career win as a result. She made three saves.

Frances Nicoletti was credited with four saves for Bloomsburg.

Kershaw gave West Chester a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when she slid across the goal mouth and knocked in a cross from Brittany Yetter.
