Women’s Swimming Cruises Past Bloomsburg, 143-113

Borkowski a quadruple winner

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
– In an almost identical meet to the men, West Chester’s women’s swimming team captured nine of 15 events and posted top two finishes in six competitions to down host Bloomsburg, 143-113, Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both schools.

Jackie Borkowski was an individual triple winner for the Golden Rams (6-1) as well as leading off the 400-yard free relay. She won the 1000 freestyle in 10 minutes 5.96 seconds, the 200 butterfly in 2:12.78 and the 500 free in 5:17.08.

Megan Bauer was a double winner for the Golden Rams. She touched the wall first in the 100 free with a time of 54.29 and placed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.11. Bauer led a group of three Golden Rams to the finish in the 100 free. Kristen Montello (55.50) and Christie Stern (55.63) were right behind Bauer.

Danielle Ierley won the 200 free with a time of 1:57.58 while finishing second in the 100 fly behind Bauer with a 1:04.76.

Montello won the 50 free with a time of 25.42. Rachael Gale won the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.83.

West Chester’s 200 medley relay team consisting of Murphy, Lauren Beck, Erin Fischer and Stern placed first in 1:52.58. The Golden Rams’ “B” squad was right behind in second place.

West Chester will rest up in preparation for the 2009 PSAC Swimming Championships on Feb. 19 in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
