Women's Soccer Pairings Announced For PSAC Tournament

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The official pairings for the 2009 PSAC Women's Soccer Tournament were announced by the league office Sunday afternoon. West Chester University is the top seed in the East and will host Bloomsburg on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at South Campus Field.

Tickets to the PSAC Quarterfinal matchup at West Chester University will be sold at the gate. No advance sale of tickets is available. Prices are $7 for adults and $2 for students/children. Free admission is available to students from PSAC member institutions with valid school I.D. Conference passes will be accepted. No complimentary tickets are available.

Parking will be available in John A. Farrell Stadium's Q-Lot across the street from the soccer fields on South Campus. There will be no parking at the soccer field for the exception of handicapped parking, game officials, tournament personnel and league and school administrators.

Kutztown is the second seed in the East and will host East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the other Eastern quarterfinal. Out West, California (Pa.) earned the top seed and will host fourth-seeded Gannon while Indiana (Pa.), the second seed out of the West, hosts defending conference champion Mercyhurst, who was the third seed in the West. The Western Division quarterfinal matchups game times are all TBA.

The remaining four schools after Tuesday's action will all convene at the site of the highest remaining seed in the Eastern Division for the conference semifinals on Friday, Nov. 6 and Sat., Nov. 7. A complete schedule of the tournament through the championship game is below.

Four of the eight PSAC schools participating in the postseason tournament appeared in the NSCAA national rankings last week. West Chester headed the list ranked fifth while Kutztown was ranked 14th, and Cal was ranked 25th. Indiana (Pa.) was among others receiving votes.

West Chester is 6-1 against the other seven teams in the tournament. The Golden Rams swept the season series against both Kutztown (W, 2-1; W, 2-0) and East Stroudsburg (W, 2-0; W, 1-0) while splitting with Bloomsburg (L, 0-1; W, 2-0). The Bloomsburg loss in the second game of the season was the only setback for the Rams in the regular season. Bloomsburg and Kutztown are the only two teams to score a goal on West Chester so far this year.

West Chester defeated Gannon (1-0) on the road in Erie, Pa. earlier this season. The Golden Rams did not face Cal, IUP or Mercyhurst in the regular season.
