Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Dana Weems and Janelle Garber both posted double doubles as the Lady Golden Rams went on to defeat Cheyney, 63-54, Wednesday night in PSAC East women’s basketball action at Hollinger Field House.

Weems (15 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals) and Garber (15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals) led the charge for the Golden Rams throughout the game. Megan Stewart recorded eight steals in the tilt as well.

West Chester (16-6, 8-1 PSAC East) solidified its lead on first place in the league standings, racing out to a 21-9 lead with 10:30 to go in the first half. It would have been very easy for the Rams to take their foot off of the accelerator, but they just kept on pushing it, increasing their lead to 38-21 at the half.

Cheyney (11-8, 6-3 PSAC East) kept things interesting, going on a 13-7 run halfway through the second half to cut the lead to 57-50 with four minutes to go. The visiting Wolves would get as close as five points, before West Chester put the game away.

The Golden Rams have opened up a two-game lead in the standings on Kutztown, who lost to Mansfield Wednesday. West Chester is 9-1 in its last 10 outings and is ranked ninth in this week’s Atlantic Region poll released earlier in the day.

Dominique Adams joined in on the fun for the Golden Rams with a solid outing, scoring nine points, grabbing four rebounds, and recording two steals.

West Chester travels to Bloomsburg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Huskies.
