WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sam Ingersoll was 3-for-3 with four RBI in game one, and Shannon Padula picked up a pair of complete-game wins as West Chester swept a PSAC East softball doubleheader from visiting Millersville, 9-2 and 6-1, Friday afternoon.
West Chester (28-16, 6-8 PSAC East) kept its hopes alive for a postseason berth with the two wins over Millersville (22-23, 1-13).
Padula (17-9) gave up two runs on 11 hits in the opener. She walked two and did not strike out a batter. The lefty tossed a three-hitter in the nightcap, walking two more and striking out two.
The Golden Rams scored two runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to break open a 2-2 game in the opener. Ingersoll singled in a run in the fifth and walked with the bases loaded in the sixth for another RBI. Ingersoll finished with five RBI on the day.
Erin MacNamee was 3-for-4 in game two with a double and two RBI. Evelyn Anderson was 2-for-3.
