KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Renata Neal scored 14 points and Janelle Garber netted 13, but West Chester shot just 29 percent from the field as host Kutztown topped the Golden Rams, 76-56, at Keystone Arena in a PSAC East women’s basketball contest Wednesday evening.
West Chester (12-6, 2-3 PSAC East) continued to struggle from the field while Kutztown (13-5, 4-1) used a second-half rally to finally put away its visitors.
West Chester trailed by 11 at the half, but opened the second frame on 8-0 run to close the gap to three at 35-32. The Golden Rams were down 46-40 with 8:55 left when the Bears went on a 20-6 run over the next four minutes to put the game away for good.
Allison Hostetter scored eight points and grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds in the loss. Megan Stewart registered six steals and dished out four assists.
Rachel Weismiller netted a game-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Chauntelle Schroeder posted 17 points and Kristen Murray scored 15 points.
The Golden Rams were a woeful 3-for-17 (.176) from 3-point range and just 18 of 62 from the field for the game.
West Chester will try to even its conference record once again on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff at East Stroudsburg.
