PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – West Chester’s women’s swimming & diving squad won five events, including a sweep of the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly and 400 individual medley, but Division I Ivy League power Penn was too much for the Golden Rams, 182-115, Friday night at Sheerr Pool.
West Chester (6-1) dropped its first dual of the season while Penn (4-4) picked up its second straight dual meet win.
Jackie Borkowski was a double winner for the Golden Rams. She won the 50 freestyle in 24.09 and then the 100 free (52.43). Borkowski was also second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.42.
Erin Fischer was first in the 100 fly, beating out Borkowski in 56.89. Fischer was also a double-winner for the Rams, taking first in the 400 IM in 4 minutes, 46.35 seconds. Jillian Murphy placed second in 4:46.88.
The 200 medley relay, consisting of Megan Bauer, Kristen Montello, Leah Vavaro and Christie Stern, posted a winning time of 1:39.42.
The Penn dual was West Chester’s final tune-up for the PSAC Championships,which are scheduled to get under way on Thursday, Feb. 18 in Chambersburg, Pa.
