BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Erin Fischer and Amilia Buckley were double winners in the pool while Cat Rose was a double-winner on the diving board as West Chester University went into Jacobs Pool and downed Division I Lehigh, 190-110 on Saturday morning.
West Chester defeated Lehigh for the second straight year. Fischer won each of the butterfly events, taking the 100-yard fly in 58.36 seconds and the 200 fly in 2 minutes, 19.59 seconds. Buckley captured each of the breaststroke events, touching the wall first in the 100 in 1:08.59 and 2:27.50 in the 200. Fischer helped the Golden Rams’ 400 freestyle relay take first place in 3:40.64 while Buckley helped the 400 medley relay place first in 4:02.64.
West Chester won 13 events in the meet. Kristen Montello took the 100 free in 10:44.68. Megan Bauer won the 200 in 1:58.16. Bauer also swam the anchor leg of the 400 medley relay team that was a winner Saturday. Megan Winslow won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.53, and Jess Healy captured the 200 back (2:12.05).
On the diving boards, West Chester claimed the top three spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard competitions. Rose was the winner in both events with a score of 281.02 off the 1-meter board while teammates Michelle Murphy was second (212.10) and Dana DePaul (205.25) was third, respectively.
In the 3-meter event, Rose amassed a score of 247.72. DePaul was runner-up with a 232.12 while Murphy was third with a 223.19.
West Chester travels to PSAC rival Bloomsburg next Saturday at 1 p.m. for a dual meet with the Huskies to close out the first month of the 2010-11 campaign.
