WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Devon Swaim’s goal off a cross from Jen Hutchinson in the 41st minute was all No. 13 West Chester needed to down Edinboro in a PSAC women's showdown at the South Campus Soccer Complex at West Chester University on Friday afternoon.
West Chester (9-1-0, 7-1-0 PSAC) extends its winning streak to two games with today’s victory while Edinboro (7-3-1, 4-3-1) dropped its third game in PSAC conference play this season. The Golden Ram’s outshot the Fighting Scot’s 14-1 and were in control of the match throughout.
Swaim, has now scored in two consecutive contests and with the goal in the first half she now has three goals on the season. The senior forward played a perfect strike into the back of the net past the diving Edinboro goalkeeper, Kate Stukbauer.
The win places West Chester in second place of the PSAC conference midway through the regular season. The Golden Rams now have eight remaining regular season games before the PSAC conference tournament.
Stukbauer made 15 saves in a losing effort for Edinboro. Bernardini did not record any saves for West Chester after being replaced by Leeny Tarnowski in the 68th minute. Tarnowski did not register a save for West Chester in her 22 minutes of action.
Women’s soccer will be back in action tomorrow against Clarion at 12:00 p.m. on the South Campus Soccer fields.
