Kmiecinski's Walk-Off Two-Run Shot Delivers Softball A Win, 10-9

Box Score

SALISBURY, N.C.
- Kate Kmiecinski hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting West Chester to a 10-9 victory over tournament host Catawba Friday afternoon in the season opener for the Golden Rams.

West Chester squandered a 7-0 lead, yielding three runs in the third, one in the fifth and three more in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Golden Rams' starter Brooke Muth (1-0) , who had been lifted for a reliever earlier in the game, returned to the circle and picked up the win for WCU.

Catawba (5-4) batted first, despite playing on its own home field, as a result of losing the coin flip at the beginning of the game.

Erin MacNamee hit a 3-run double in the contest. Megan Harbaugh and Sam Ingersoll also homered in a game that witnessed six homers in all.

West Chester takes on Davis & Elkins at 6 p.m. in its second contest of the day.
