Softball Sweeps USP On The Road

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– Missy Schwartz went 2-for-4 at the plate and pitched a complete game inside the circle in game one while Stef Kerbacher was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the nightcap as visiting West Chester swept a non-league softball doubleheader from host University of the Sciences (Phila.) on Wednesday afternoon at McNeil Field.

West Chester (16-6) has now won four in a row and six of its last seven with the sweep over USP (4-8).

Schwartz (3-0) won her second decision in as many days, allowing one unearned run on five hits, walking one and striking out two. Sam Soprano (5-1) started the nightcap and lasted 4.1 innings, allowing two runs, one of them unearned, on six hits, walking one and striking out two.

Kerbacher stole two bases in addition to going 3-for-4 at the plate. Erin MacNamee, who was 2-for-3 in the opener, stole a pair of bases in the nightcap as well. Sam Ingersoll was 2-for-4 with a RBI.

West Chester is at East Stroudsburg on Friday as the Golden Rams return to PSAC East play.
