Women's Swimming Falls At Penn, 164-111

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– West Chester University’s women’s swimming and diving squad captured three events, but dropped a 164-111 non-league dual meet to Ivy League foe University of Pennsylvania at Sheerr Pool Friday evening.

The Golden Rams won 3 of 15 events in Friday’s inter-divisional meet between intra-state rivals.

Senior Erin Fischer won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.05 seconds. West Chester swimmers claimed the top three spots in the 200 individual medley. Leah Varvaro touched the wall first in 2 minutes, 16.64 seconds with Dani Scott (2:18.17) placing second and Amelia Buckley (2:19.14) third.

Jillian Murphy, Fischer, Mia Barone and Megan Bauer made up the 200 freestyle relay team that won in a time of 1:40.06. Kristina Ciatto, Courtney Wallace, Mackey McGeary and Skylar Doss comprised the second-place team in a time of 1:47.18.

Dana DePaul placed second in the 1-meter springboard competition with a score of 238.05.

West Chester is off until the PSAC Championships at Cumberland Valley High School in two weeks. The divers will be back in action on Feb. 5 when West Chester travels to University of Delaware for the Delaware Diving Invitational.
