WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman Alexis Walley was a three-time winner and Kelsey Tennett captured both boards in the diving competition as West Chester outdistanced Division I foe Lehigh, 174-67, inside Graham Natatorium in a non-league men’s swimming & diving meet Friday night.
Walley, a distance specialist, won the 200 freestyle (1 minute, 55.03), 500 free (5:11.29) and the 1000 free (10:34.36) to help the Golden Rams to the win. Teammate Kacie McNichol was second to Walley each time in the 500 free and 1000 free. Fellow freshman Codyanne Murtaugh was runner-up to Walley in the 200 free (1:55.85).
Freshman Kenzie Duebler was also a double-winner in the pool, taking the 50 free (25.29) and the 100 free (54.40). Christie Stern placed second to Duebler in the 50 free.
Tennett won the 1m springboard competition with a score of 240 while taking the 3m competition with a 239.85.
Amelia Buckley led a contingent of three Golden Rams to the wall in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.07. Leah Varvaro won the 200 butterfly in 2:09.76 while Lauren Keenan placed second. Varvaro was also part of the 400 medley relay that led off the meet with a first-place showing. The Rams’ 400 free relay concluded the meet with a similar finish.
West Chester returns to action next Friday in another home meet against PSAC rival Bloomsburg at Graham Natatorium. Meet begins at 5 p.m.
