KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Sr. F Nicole Fiorilla scored the game winning goal 3:33 into overtime to lift No. 3 West Chester to a 2-1 victory over No. 9 and host Kutztown Wednesday evening.
West Chester (9-2, 4-1 PSAC East) solidified its spot in the Eastern Division standings after one go-around against its divisional opponents while Kutztown (7-4, 2-2) slipped in the overall standings.
Fiorilla took a feed from Kayla Gluchowski and went in on Kutztown goalkeeper Emily Falko one-on-one and buried the game-winner in the cage. It was Fiorilla's team-leading 10th goal of the season and her third game-winner of the fall. The win improved West Chester to 2-0 in overtime games this season. The Golden Rams also defeated UMass-Lowell in OT in the second game of the year.
Leah Angstadt tied the game with a goal off a penalty corner in the 66th minute. Brynn Adams and Michele Schrift picked up the assists.
Kristin Arnold (9-2) was credited with nine saves in the win. She made one save in the overtime session.
West Chester travels to No. 1 Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon. It will mark the third time this year that West Chester will take on the nation's top-ranked team in Division II. WCU split the two previous opportunities. The Golden Rams defeated UMass-Lowell when they were No. 1 in the country, and lost to Bloomsburg at home when the Huskies were the No. 1-ranked team in the land.
