Softball Splits Two Games On Friday In Salem, Va.

Glenville State Box Score
Alderson-Broaddus Box Score

SALEM, Va.
– West Chester split its two games on Friday afternoon at the WVIAC-PSAC crossover weekend series, defeating Glenville State, 7-3, in the opener, but falling, 1-0, to Alderson-Broaddus in the finale.

West Chester (9-8) wasted a superb pitching performance from freshman Kim Murl (4-5) in the second game. Murl allowed three consecutive hits that led to the only run of the game, but held Alderson-Broaddus down rest of the way.

The Golden Rams squandered a pair of scoring opportunities and could not come up with the timely hit to take advantage.

In the opener, West Chester’s bats were very much alive, scoring seven runs against the Pioneers. Both Kelly Anderson and Erin MacNamee were 2-for-3 in the win. Anderson scored a pair of runs and knocked in another. MacNamee had a run scored as well. Abby Block was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Devon Utterback (5-2) pitched 4.2 innings and picked up the win.

West Chester will be back in action again on Saturday with three games on the final day of the inter-conference crossover in the Atlantic Region.
