Softball Wins Two Out Of Three Saturday

SALEM, Va.
- West Chester University won two of its three games on the final day of the WVIAC-PSAC crossover weeekend series in Salem, Va. The Golden Rams defeated West Liberty and Ohio Valley, before falling to West Virginia Wesleyan.

West Chester (10-8) received a pair of outstanding pitching performances from Kim Murl (5-5) and Devon Utterback (6-2) in the two wins over West Liberty and Ohio Valley, respectively. Murl tossed a three-hit shutout against West Liberty, leading the Golden Rams to a 5-0 win, while Utterback got the win and Murl her first college save in a 3-2 victory over Ohio Valley. Kate Skokowski (0-2) suffered the loss in the nightcap, 3-1, to West Virginia Wesleyan.

Erin MacNamee recorded a pair of triples in the three games combined. She knocked in Megan Rupert with the game-winning RBI in the win over Ohio Valley. Freshman Jililan Murray smashed a two-run homer for West Chester's other two runs. MacNamee was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the loss to West Virginia Wesleyan.

Jessica Norris went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the opener against West Liberty. Nicole Cruts was also 2-for-4 with a RBI. Kate Kmiecinski doubled, and Murl went 2-for-3 with a run scored at the plate to help her cause.
