CLERMONT, Fla. – West Chester University split its two games down south at the National Training Complex, defeating Southern New Hampshire, 9-4, in the morning, but falling to University of Mary in the nightcap.
West Chester (2-2) picked up the win in the morning behind the pitching of Devon Utterback (2-0) and Kim Murl. Utterback started and lasted into the fourth inning. Murl came on to register her first save of the season.
Jessica Schuck hit her first college home run, and Nicole Cruts had a bases-loaded double that scored three runs. Jessica Norris went 1-for-4 with three runs scored in the win.
Jillian Murray smacked her first college home run in the nightcap and finished 2-for-4. Norris put a nice capper on her day with a 3-for-4 effort and an RBI in the second game. Schuck went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Megan Kelly was 2-for-4 with a run scored as well.
