Softball Comes Away With Another Split In Florida

CLERMONT, Fla.
– West Chester bounced back from an early morning loss to salvage a split on its third day of games at the National Training Complex in Clermont, Fla., Monday. The Golden Rams dropped a 3-0 decision to St. Joseph’s (Ind.) in the morning, then defeated Alderson-Broaddus, 8-2, in the afternoon.

West Chester (4-4) is 3-3 on its spring trip. The Rams’ win over Alderson-Broaddus (7-3) avenged a 7-1 defeat to the Battlers on Sunday.

Kim Murl (2-2) got the win inside the circle. Kate Kmiecinski hit her first home run of the season against Alderson-Broaddus. Kim Begley hit a pinch-hit RBI double while Brianne Rowlands was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Erin MacNamee went 1-for-3 with a RBI, a runs scored and a stolen base.

In the morning loss to St. Joseph’s (Ind.), Kate Skokowski (0-1) suffered the loss inside the circle. Kelly Anderson went 1-for-3, and Rowlands hit a double.

The softball team is off on Tuesday and will return to action down South on Wednesday with games against Assumption College and West Virginia Wesleyan.
