Game 2 Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- Abby Block hit two home runs in the opener and Devon Utterback quieted Shippensburg's bats as West Chester earned a split of its PSAC Eastern Division softball doubleheader on Tuesday.

West Chester (22-15, 5-5 PSAC East) handed No. 24 Shippensburg (23-9, 9-1) its first conference loss with a 9-1 victory in game one that was called after six innings. The Raiders rebounded to down the host Golden Rams, 4-1, in the nightcap.

Block hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning and added a solo shot in the fifth to power West Chester's offensive explosion in the opener. Block finished the first game 3-for-3 with four RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Utterback (11-4) went the distance, scattering four hits over six innings, while walking two and striking out seven. Utterback started game two, but lasted just three innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out two.

Jessica Schuck homered in the nightcap, but that was the only offense the Rams could muster against Emily Estep (12-2). Estep allowed three hits and struck out 12 batters. Courtney Steele hit a pair of solo home runs for Shippensburg in the second game.

West Chester hosts Lincoln tomorrow in a non-league doubleheader.
