WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Abby Block homered for the seventh time in the last eight games to lead host West Chester to a sweep of Lincoln University in a non-league softball doubleheader Wednesday. The Golden Rams topped the Lions, 13-0 and 8-0, in a pair of five-inning games.
West Chester (23-15) scored 21 runs in 10 innings of softball and yielded just one hit in game two. Lincoln (2-14) saw its losing streak climb to 11 games.
Block hit a three-run home run during a 12-run third inning that broke game one wide open. Kate Skokowski (1-3) picked up her first win of the season, going four innings and giving up three hits and striking out six, before giving way to Melissa Hastings in the fifth.
Nicole Cruts was 2-for-3 with three RBI while Erin MacNamee knocked in a pair of runs as well.
In the nightcap, Jamie Lambe (1-0) earned her first college victory with a five-inning, complete-game effort. She struck out seven and walked one.
West Chester scored three in the third inning and five in the fourth to break a 0-0 tie and shorten the game. Megan Rupert knocked in a pair of runs, and Block went 3-for-3 in the second game. Jessica Schuck was 2-for-3 as well.
The Golden Rams return to action Thursday for a PSAC East doubleheader at East Stroudsburg.
