BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Nicole Fiorilla scored twice and Leah Angstadt posted a pair of assists as second-ranked West Chester University defeated No. 9 C.W. Post on the road in a PSAC field hockey contest at Hickox Field Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (5-1, 1-1 PSAC East) fell behind early when C.W. Post (4-2, 1-1) scored three minutes into the game. However, the visiting Golden Rams posted four unanswered goals to wrestle control of the match away from the homestanding Pioneers.
Alisha Moran scored from six yards out with an assist from Leah Angstadt to knot the game at 1-1. Fiorilla then notched the first of her two on the afternoon with a tip of a shot from Brynn Adams into the lower right corner of the goal in the 25th minute. Three minutes later, Fiorilla dribbled around C.W. Post's goalkeeper and dumped placed the ball into the empty net for her team-leading fifth marker on the year to make things 3-1 at halftime.
After the break, Gluchowski blasted her second goal of the season from the top of the circle past Post's goalie to close out the scoring in the 48th minute. Angstadt picked up her second assist of the day on that tally.
Kristin Arnold (5-1) made five saves in the cage for the Golden Rams, who held a decided 23-10 advantage in shots for the game.
It was the first ever meeting between the two schools on the field hockey pitch.
West Chester travels to Millersville Saturday for another pivotal PSAC East showdown with the Marauders.
