KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Allison Hostetter scored a game-high 21 points and Ambreelinne Ortman added 17 as visiting West Chester erased a halftime deficit to come from behind and defeat host Kutztown, 78-73, in a PSAC East women’s basketball contest inside Keystone Arena Wednesday night.
West Chester (10-3, 6-3 PSAC) stepped up its defensive pressure in the second half and got to the line more often to pull away from Kutztown (4-11, 2-7), who had taken a 42-36 lead into the break.
“We made big shots and played with a lot more intensity on defense,” 25-year head coach Deirdre Kane said afterwards.
The Golden Rams trailed 57-50 with 13 minutes left in the contest when the visitors went on a 13-0 run over close to a four-minute span that gave the Rams the lead for good, 63-50. Kutztown committed four turnovers in that four-minute stretch in which West Chester climbed back into the tilt.
Jillian Keefer (9 points) buried a pair of 3-pointers during the decisive spurt. She added six rebounds to her nine points on the night.
