MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – An impenetrable defense and goals from Kayla Gluchowski and Alexis Versak were enough for the second-ranked Golden Rams to take down No. 6 Millersville 2-0, in a pivotal PSAC Eastern Division clash at Biemesderfer Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Versak notched her fifth goal of the year early in the game in the seventh minute. Abby Hordendorf assisted on the goal giving for her first point of the year. Later in the second half, Gluchowski scored her ninth goal of the year off a pass from Michele Schrift. It was Schrift’s sixth assist of the year and 35th point, keeping her atop the scoring leaders.

West Chester (12-2, 7-1 PSAC East) remains in first place in the Eastern Division with the win over Millersville (10-6, 5-3). The Marauders dropped into third place in the league standings, behind Bloomsburg (12-4, 6-2).

West Chester’s outstanding defense held the Maruaders to just three shots with zero shots on goal. The Golden Rams dominated the play throughout the contest, applying constant pressure to Millersville’s defensive third of the field.

The Golden Rams are back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host Division III power Ursinus in the 34th rendition of the Eleanor Snell Cup. Ursinus leads the Snell Cup series, 15-14-4.
