No. 2 Field Hockey Clinches PSAC East Title With 4-0 Win

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Megan Callanan scored twice and Kristin Arnold recorded the shutout in goal to lead second-ranked West Chester to a 4-0 victory over Kutztown and the PSAC Eastern Division championship.
 
West Chester (15-2, 9-1 PSAC East) clinches the PSAC Eastern Division title with the win and will host the PSAC Championships next Friday and Saturday at Vonnie Gros Field. The Rams had already clinched a share of the title, earlier in the week. However, now they clinched sole possession of the division crown.
 
Callanan and Michele Schrift each scored in the first half to give the Golden Rams a 2-0 lead at halftime. Callanan then scored midway through the second half, and Kelsey Cheek added an insurance tally to close out the scoring at 4-0. Schrift finished with a goal and an assist on the day.
 
Arnold (15-2) made three saves in the cage for West Chester. Kutztown’s Karly Waltman made 13 saves for the Golden Bears.
 
The division title is the first for West Chester, who finished second a year ago in the PSAC East. West Chester competed at the Division I level previous to a year ago.
