BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Michele Schrift blasted a hard shot from about 10 yards out past LIU Post’s goalkeeper with four minutes left in the first overtime, lifting second-ranked West Chester University to a 1-0 victory on the road over the No. 8-ranked Pioneers at Hickox Field.

West Chester (11-2, 6-1 PSAC East) sweeps the season series with LIU Post as a result of Tuesday’s win on Long Island. The Golden Rams now occupy first place in the Eastern Division standings all alone as a result of Bloomsburg’s overtime loss at home to Millersville on Tuesday.

Kristin Arnold made nine saves in goal to collect her sixth shutout of the season.

West Chester fired off 13 shots in a scoreless second half, failing to convert any of its 16 penalty corner opportunities. LIU Post managed just five shots and was awarded just one corner in the process. The difference was Pioneer goalkeeper Becca May’s 12 saves.

Schrift finally put a tally up on the scoreboard late in the first overtime period for her team-leading 14th goal of the season. It was unassisted.

West Chester will travel to Millersville on Saturday for another PSAC contest against the Marauders at Biemesderfer Stadium.
